Import your connections from LinkedIn

The only way to do this is to export your connections first as a CSV file and import them to Promote Your Network.

We have changed this to make it easier for all users. In this way users also could refer to their LinkedIn profile if they didn't changed their Public Profile URL.

We will send max 2 invites per e-mail adress.

We don't want to annoy people in your network! That's why a person will never be invited to sign up for Promote Your Network more than twice. It's also not possible to invite existing users.

First check your spam folder. Put info@promoteyournetwork.com on your contact list.
Many times new users do not write their correct e-mail address. Please try signing up again to if you have not received a confirmation e-mail.

Can I promote others without having a profile on Promote Your Network?

 

No, that's not possible.
 
Fortunately, it's free to sign up with a Free account. So don't hesitate and start promoting others and get recommended too!

How do I use the coupon code?

 

This is only possible if you receive a coupon code from Promote Your Network.
 
When you are new or already have a profile on Promote Your Network you just press the Upgrade button. Select the account that comes with the coupon code. After filling the code in, you will receive a free upgrade!

Who founded Promote Your Network?

 

Promote Your Network was founded in 2010 by Vincent Smit. Vincent, born in 1975, currently lives in Alkmaar, The Netherlands. Promote Your Network was created in response to the overwhelming amount of requests Vincent received daily to introduce his network to others. Introducing people every day takes time and isn't really effective. Due to a lack feedback and measurable results, he decided it was necessary to build something new!
 
After a few months of planning and development, a new tool arose: Promote Your Network. Using the principles and knowledge of his other company, Just Connecting (LinkedIn and Twitter training agency for business owners), he found the key: Start promoting your network and get recommendations too!

Why can't I find a specific user on Promote Your Network with the searchbox?

With the searchbox you will find only items belonging to existing users. So if you can't find a specific person, that may be because he/she doesn't have any items yet. It's also possible that the user you are looking for is registered under his/her company name instead of his/her own name.

Why can't I redirect to my LinkedIn profile?

You need to fill in the complete Public Profile URL.

How do I sign up on this site?

  1. Look for the Join button.
  2. Select your preferred account (Free account is the standard).
  3. After filling in your display name (usually the name people know you by in your network) the Profile name will automatically be filled in. The Profile name has to be unique. Please choose another profile name when your first choice is already taken.
  4. Use an e-mail address that hasn´t been used before on Promote Your Network.
  5. Choose a secret password. Repeat the password to be sure you haven't made a mistake.
  6. Select the box to receive the Promote Your Network newsletter (optional).
  7. You have to agree to the Terms & Conditions to start a profile on Promote Your Network.
  8. You will receive an e-mail with a confirmation link (please check your spambox if you do not see it in your inbox).
  9. Click on the confirmation link and sign in on Promote Your Network.
  10. Congratulations, you're about to start promoting your network!

How do I sign in?

  1. Click on the 'Sign in' link found in the top right-hand corner of this website
  2. Use the e-mail address you used when signing up.
  3. Fill in the password (lost or forgot your password? Use the link to retrieve it).
  4. Click on the 'Remember my login' box (optional).
  5. Finally click on the 'Sign in' button.

How do I edit my profile?

  1. After you login click on the 'My account' tab.
  2. Click on the 'Edit' button.
  3. Update the fields of your choice.
  4. Don't forget to press the 'save' button!

How do I delete my profile?

  1. After you login click on the 'My account' tab.
  2. Click on the 'Edit' button.
  3. Below you will find the red 'Delete my account' button.
  4. In a pop-up you will be asked if you are sure you want to delete your profile (action cannot be undone).

Is it possible to change my Profile Name?

No. Your Profile Name has to be unique because it's used in the URL of your profile and your item(s).

Where do I change my Display Name?

You can change your Display Name by clicking on the 'My account' tab and the 'Edit' button after you are signed in. Be sure to use a name your friends and network contacts know. It's better to use your surname and Christian name. It's likely that people look for your name when they use the search engine on Promote Your Network and Google(!).

How do I change my password?

  1. When you're signed in, click on the 'My account' tab.
  2. Click on the 'Settings' tab.
  3. Choose a new password (and repeat it).
  4. Don't forget to press the 'Save' button!

How do I retrieve my password?

Forgot your password? No problem, use the link 'click here to retrieve it' after clicking on the 'Sign in' link. You have to use your primary e-mail address (see 'Settings' tab). You will receive an e-mail with a link to change your password on Promote Your Network.

Why can't I fill in the URL of my website or company on my profile?

Actually you can! But it will appear as plain text in your profile text.

Why should I add all my own e-mail addresses on Promote Your Network?

Promote Your Network will use these e-mail addresses to show the visitors the mutual contacts already promoting your item(s), because it's possible your promoters are also in your visitors network!

How do I promote myself?

  • Place a button in your e-mail signature.
  • Place a button on your website.
  • Make a link to your public profile on LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, etc.
  • Start promoting others and they will probably promote your item(s) too!

Choose here a Promote Your Network button or banner of your choice.

Why should I have only one profile?

Having all your items (products and/or services) in one profile helps your network to promote you easily.

What's the difference between the different accounts?

The main difference is the amount of items you can have for yourself so your network is able to promote you.
  • Free account: 2 items
  • Pro account: 10 items
  • Premium account: 25 items
  • Corporate account: max. 1000 items
With a Corporate account you are able to add a company profile too!

What happens a year after I've upgraded?

Items

What is an item?

An item could be your product or service. If you don't have any of these Promote Your Network has no opportunities for you to let others promote you. You are always able to promote your network though!

How many items do I start with when I sign up to Promote Your Network?

With a Free account your network is able to promote your 2 items. Want more? Just upgrade to a Pro account (10 items) or a Premium account (25 items).

Why can't I see an uploaded picture?

Be sure you have used a jpg, gif or png file.
 
We crop your picture to a square format. It is possible that in this process you are left seeing a white square. If this happens, please try another file.

How do I add new items to my profile?

  1. Sign in first.
  2. Click on the 'Your items' tab.
  3. Click on the 'Add item' button.
  4. With a Free account it is not possible to have more than 2 items (Pro account is max 10 and Premium account is max 25 items).
  5. Define an item name (make it as specific as possible).
  6. The short description will show up in any item overview that your promoters are recommending (trigger the viewer!).
  7. The long description will show up when people view the item details (it could help if you mention the benefits of your product or service).
  8. Optionally copy and paste a link to a Youtube video (don't use the embedded link!).
  9. Use a link to a specific page where the viewer can order or read more about your item (product or service).
  10. Upload a picture with square dimensions (other formats will work too) to represent your item.

How can I change the format of my images?

The images of your items are cropped by our website to a square format. Do you have another format? Edit it by yourself with one of these websites:

How many times can I change my items?

Unlimited times! But don't frustrate your network contacts by updating it too frequently. They might stop promoting you.

  4. A pop-up will ask you if you are sure.
  5. Don´t worry, you can add a new item later!
  6. Don't forget to press the 'save' button!

How do I insert the conversion tracking code?

  1. First sign in.
  2. Click on the 'Your items' tab.
  3. Move your mouse over the '+' button and click on the 'Track conversions' button, or click directly on the blue (!) 'Track conversions' button for the item you would like to install the tracking code.
  4. Carefully read the instructions.
  5. Eventually you will be able to use the services of Netjam to help you out in installing the conversion tracking code on your website.

How do I promote others?

  1. First sign in.
  2. Click on the 'My Account' tab.
  3. Find the specific item by pressing the 'Suggestions' tab.
  4. Move your mouse over the '+' button and click on the 'Promote item' button or click directly on the blue (play) 'Promote this item' button.
  5. Send a tweet, an e-mail or use the short or long promotion link in blogs, news articles, newsletters, etc. to promote this item.
  6. When people are promoting you by Twitter you'll find that in the statistics.

How can I see who's promoting my items?

  1. Sign in first.
  2. Click on the 'My Account' tab.
  3. Click on the 'Your items' tab.
  4. Select an item and click on 'x promoters' button (where x stands for the amount of promoters).
  5. Below your item details you will find a list of your promoters.
  6. Note the difference between people the visitor knows (blue sign) and doesn´t know (white sign).
  7. Be sure you import all of your e-mail contacts to Promote Your Network, so viewers will see which of your mutual contacts are already promoting you!

How many items can I promote from others?

You can promote everyone in and outside your network. There's no limit! But it's better and  more trustworthy if they are people you know.

How do I stop promoting an item?

  1. Sign in first.
  2. Click on the 'My Account' tab.
  3. Click on the 'You promote' tab.
  4. Choose an item.
  5. Click on the 'stop promoting this item' button (square), or move your mouse over the '+' button and click on the 'Stop promoting' button.
  6. A pop-up will ask if you are sure.
  7. Notice that the item owner could receive an e-mail saying you have stopped promoting this item.
  8. Don't forget to press the 'save' button!

Does someone see when I stop promoting their item(s)?

Yes. But it's an option under the 'Settings' tab for the item owner to stop receiving these e-mails.

Why can't I promote, tweet or e-mail my own item(s)?

Promote Your Network says it all. Start promoting others and get recommended by your network too!

I have a Free account but have more than 2 items others could promote, what can I do?

With an upgrade to a Pro account you are able to have 10 items your network could promote. With a Premium account you could have up to 25 items!
 
It's better to keep all your items under one profile to keep things clear for your network. Imagine signing up for 5 Free accounts and import and invite your network contacts 5 times. It gives a wrong impression to your network and its confusing which profile is the right one.

Why should I have a specific item description?

Of course it's possible to have a generic description. But people don't want to promote generic items. They are there to help you and their network. So help them promoting your product or service (item): be as specific as possible!

Link to movie doesn't work, what could I do?

We only support Youtube clips!
 
Check if you have used the direct link. The embedded link doesn't work.
 
It's also possible that the link has been changed or removed from Youtube.

No, that's not possible. But every other person will see your name.

Why should I upload my contacts?

You should upload your contacts because visitors of your item(s) possibly know the same people. And what happens when they see names of promoters they already know? They feel they are able to trust the promoters. People are more likely to buy from you if they see that you have mutual contacts.

How do I upload my contacts?

You can import e-mail addresses from any webmail service or from Outlook or LinkedIn with a CSV export file.
 
  1. Sign in first.
  2. Click on the 'My account' tab.
  3. Click on the 'Your Network' tab.
  4. Click on the 'Import Contacts' tab.
  5. Choose your preferred method.
  6. The first results show your network contacts.
  7. Select or deselect the people you would (not) like to connect.
  8. Choose to continue with or without invitations for joining Promote Your Network.
  9. Note that Promote Your Network will never send e-mails without your permission.
  10. Under the 'Suggestions' tab you will find people you know on Promote Your Network and their items (you can now start promoting them!)
When you import your LinkedIn connections (export your connections first as a CSV file) it’s not necessary to invite them at that moment by e-mail. You can do this later under the tab 'Invite friends'.
 
Read here about how to upload contacts when you have more than 2000 connections.
 
If someone has already been invited by two people to sign up for Promote Your Network, our system will not invite them again. Existing users of Promote Your Network will also not be invited.

How do I invite my friends to Promote Your Network?


 

  1. Sign in first.
  2. Click on the 'My Account' tab.
  3. Click on the 'Your Network' tab.
  4. Click on the 'Invite friends' tab.
  5. Edit the standard invitation text as you wish (TIP: use your mother language!).
  6. Select e-mail or a social network of your choice.
  7. Select or deselect the people you would like to invite.
  8. You will receive an e-mail when someone you know signs up for Promote Your Network.
  9. After that, you see their items under their 'Suggestions' tab
Or log out and move your mouse over the '+' button on the homepage and choose your preferred method (by e-mail, twitter or promotion links)

Why can't I upload my network by selected social media?

It's possible that some social media sites change the way third parties are allowed to connect with them. Please report any problems at info@promoteyournetwork.com!

Statistics Tab

What's interesting about statistics?

See how many times people are promoting, visiting, tweeting, clicking on your website and even buy/call/e-mail/order one or more items!
But it gets even better. You now know who is promoting you, leading to more business.

How do I use the statistics tab?

  1. Select 1 item or all items combined.
  2. Select a specific period.
  3. And there you have it, statistics on demand!
  4. Drag and drop the graphic results in any order you want.

What do the results under the statistic tab mean?

 

  • Top Promoters the people who send the most traffic (hits) to your items.
  • Unique visitors are the number of unique people checking out this specific item per day. If 1 person looks 20 times at your item on 1 day the counter will not add this up.
  • Raw Hits shows how many times your item had been shown in a specific period.
  • Tweets are the amount of tweets promoters have posted by their twitter account of your item in a specific period.
  • Promoters are the exact number of people actively promoting this item (will refresh overnight).
  • Clicks to your site shows how many times people have clicked the weblink on the item detail page of your item.
  • Conversions are the amount of people that were on your item detail page, clicked the weblink and reached a specific goal on your website where you inserted the conversion tracking code

How does Promote Your Network secure my privacy?

Promote Your network has a SSL certificate. You can recognise this on the pages (sign up, sign in, payment, settings, import your network) where the webadress starts with https:// instead off with http://.

What happens when I upload my contacts?

The e-mail addresses will be saved at Promote Your Network and used to match your contacts with the visitors of your item(s). Also when someone from your network signs up for Promote Your Network you will be notified. Promote Your Network will never send any e-mails without your permission!

You're able to (de)select the following types of e-mails:
  • E-mail me when someone is added to Promote Your Network from my network
  • E-mail me when someone starts promoting my item(s)   
  • E-mail me when someone stops promoting my item(s)   
  • E-mail me when someone generates a conversion on my item(s)   
  • E-mail me when I generate a conversion on someone’s item(s)   
  • Send me the periodical Promote Your Network newsletter   
  • Send me e-mails with commercial announcements

Can people see when I ignore there suggested item?

No, they will not be notified. We always advise promoting people and their items if you really can recommend them!

Payments

How can I pay?

When you upgrade to a Pro or Premium account, Cardgate will process this payment by Ideal or credit card (VISA and Mastercard).
 
When you upgrade to a Corporate account you will receive a digital invoice. After receiving your payment we will automatically upgrade your account.

Do I get a refund when I stop using Promote Your Network?

No, we will not give you a refund.

What happens a year after I have upgraded?

Eleven months after upgrading, you will receive an e-mail from Promote Your Network. We will ask you to make a choice:
  1. Do you want to continue with this type of account? You have to pay online after 1 month to keep all your items.
  2. Do you want to downgrade to a Pro account? You have to pay online after 1 month and select no more than 10 items.
  3. Do you want to downgrade to a Free account? After 1 month select no more than 2 items.
  4. Do you want to upgrade to a Premium account? You have to pay online after 1 month and select no more than 25 items
Do you want to delete your account? Please do it yourself after logging in under the 'Edit my profile' button
 
Of course you are never limited in promoting your network as long as you are registered at Promote Your Network.
